Abstract

Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix D.C) is one of herbal plants with very high antioxidant activity that is widely used in daily needs, both in the medical, industrial, and household. Besides fruit, kaffir lime skin also contains flavonoid compounds, steroids, saponins and tannins. Objekctives; This study aims to determine the effectiveness of dosage formulation of extracts of kaffir lime skin against Staphylococcus aureus. Method; The method of this research was experimental, extracts were obtained using 96% ethanol solvent maceration method, then an ointment dosage form was made using vaseline album base and ointment extract of kaffir lime skin extract had concentrations of 8%, 12% and 16%. Result; The results showed that kaffir lime skin (Citrus hystrix D.C) can be formulated as an ointment dosage form and met the quality requirements of ointment dosage form, including organoleptic test, homogeneity test and pH test. The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the formulation of ointment extracts of kaffir lime skin extract (Citrus hystrix D.C) with concentrations of 8%, 12% and 16% can inhibit bacterial growth and good inhibition with an average diameter of 9.06, 10, 3, 11.93mm. Conclusion; It was concluded that the higher the concentration of the extract, the greater the inhibitory power given. Ointment extract of kaffir lime skin extract with a concentration of 8%, 12% and 16% is the best ointment in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria because it is in the strong inhibitory category.
