Abstract
Requests for pulverizes (still divided powder) preparations are still being done extensively by doctors both doctors in hospitals, clinics or private practices in the city of Medan. The distribution of pulverizes which is done visually (invisible) is likely to produce heterogeneity of weight, causing no dosage uniformity of the pulverise. The purpose of this study was to determine the uniformity of the weight of the pulveres preparation in paracetamol which was formulated by a Pharmacy in the City of Medan in accordance with the rules of FI edition III.
This type of research was experimental research. The research was conducted in March - June 2019. The sample of this research was paracetamol preparations of pulverizes which were formulated by 21 pharmacies from 21 sub-districts in Medan. Evaluations carried out include weight uniformity test and pulverizes weight deviation test.
The results showed that all pharmacies have large deviations or equal to 15%. All pharmacies have large deviations or equal to 15% more than two packs.
From the results of tests conducted on pulverise preparations, it can be concluded that 100% (21 pharmacies) do not meet the requirements of FI III. In further research it is advisable to make observations and evaluations related to the pulverise compounding process in Medan City pharmacy and examine the pharmacological effects that result if the pulverise produced do not meet the specified FI III requirements.
