Abstract

Introduction :Corticosteroids are a group of natural steroid hormones in humans produced by the adrenal cortex glands. Inappropriate use of corticosteroids has the potential to cause serious side effects. Therefore a study was conducted on the use of corticosteroid drugs in pediatric outpatients at Deli Serdang Regional General Hospital District in terms of dosage accuracy. Objective : The research is a non-experimental research with descriptive method and retropective data collection. Method : Data from outpatients pediatrict room in May 2019 were 35 patients who met the inclusion requirements, grouped by age, sex and degree of disease, corticosteroid use was most at the age of 10 years with a percentage of 17,14%, while the most diagnose were ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection) with a percentage of patients 34,29%. Result : The most commonly used corticosteroid drug was was prednisone in the diagnosis of acute bronchitis. The age of children who received corticosteroid drugs at the of 1 to 6 years were 20 patients. The most common diagnosis in pediatric outpatients was ARI. The dosage used for outpatient pediatric still fits the dose that should be on the patient’s therapeutic effect. Conclusion :. Sugestions for furher researcher to conduct research on the rationality of the use of corticosteroids in full using prospective methods, as well as inthe completeness of data, writing information and clarity in writing data in medical records, so that researchers can easily read and get complete data.
