Abstract
Watermelon is a low-calorie fruit that is rich in water and is a source of vitamin C and flavonoids which have antioxidant effects by cutting off very reactive free radicals which tend to form new radicals.
This study used an experimental method of sheet mask dosage formulations consisting of components such as watermelon juice, glycerin, butylene glycol, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, sodium polyacrylate, nipagin, 70% ethanol, perfume (Antaria), acid pH buffer solution ( 4,01), neutral pH buffered solution (7.01), distilled water, blank sheet mask (Beyond), foil bag. Tests for sheet mask dosage form made include, homogeneity test, pH test, organoleptic test, and irritation test using 12 volunteers, and viscosity test.
Formulation of sheet mask dosage form using watermelon juice as an active ingredient was made quite stable, the pH range of 6.0-7.0 so that it was safe to use.
The results of the watermelon juice study can be used as an additional active ingredient in sheet mask dosage form. The higher the concentration of the addition of watermelon juice, the pH produced is more acidic and obtains the pH of the dosage form that meet the criteria of a good sheet mask, the results of irritation test sheet mask dosage form are all in the category negative (-) which means that all formulation do not cause irritation, and do not change in shape, color, or aroma.
