Abstract
Gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb) has a bioactive substance which is strongly suspected to be used as a wound medicine. This assumption is possible because the compounds contained in gambier have the potential to kill microbes, trigger cell and tissue regeneration and can stabilize other physiological components. The most common compounds found include catechins. Catechins are secondary metabolites that belong to the class of flavonoids which have the potential to be anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, and anti-virus.
This study used experimental method of Laboratory by making an ointment formulation from Gambir by maceration. The object of study was the potential of gambier extract in healing scratch in mice. The number of mice used was 25 which were divided into 5 groups: positive control group (Betadin®), gambier extract group with concentrations of 25%, 35%, 45%, and negative control group were compared with homogeneity test and scratch test on mouse.
The results showed that gambir ethanol extract with a concentration of 25%, 35%, 45% was able to accelerate the healing of scratch in mice so that there was no difference between these concentrations. The result of data analysis using ANOVA showed that the data did not have a significant difference with a significance value>.05 was .07. The test results stated that there were no significant differences between each concentration.
The conclusion shows that the ointment containing gambir extract at concentrations of 25%, 35%, and 45% was able to accelerate the healing of scratch in white mice.
