Abstract

FORMULATION AND TESTING OF ANTI-BACTERIAL ACNE MASK OF of CUCUMBER EXTRACT (Cucumis sativus L) AGAINST BACTERIA Propionibacterium acne
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L) is one of plants that is often used as food and is also known as medicine and contains saponin, triterpenoid and phenolic compounds as antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The research aims to determine whether the ethanol extract of cucumber fruit can be made in the form of an acne mask and to find out whether the acne mask preparation of cucumber ethanol extract has antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne. The research method was experimental research using maceration methods. Acne mask of cucumber is made in 4 concentrations namely 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% concentrations. In this test organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, irritation test and antibacterial activity test against Propionibacterium acne. Data is processed statistically using One Way Anova (Analysis Of Variant). In this study, the activity of cucumber ethanol extract of mask acne (Cucumis sativus L) was tested on Propionibacterium acne bacteria using MHA media. From the results of testing the antibacterial activity of cucumber mask acne preparations with 5% formula showed 8.93mm was relatively smaller compared to 10% showed 9.13mm, 15% showed 11.5mm and 20% showed 12.63mm. The results of this study indicate that the preparation of cucumber mask for ethanol extract of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L) with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% produces acne masks that meet the requirements of organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, irritation test and test antibacterial activity. The ethanol extract of the cucumber shows the strong antibacterial activity of Propionibacterium acne.
