Abstract
The skin is an organ that covers the entire body, has a function to protect external influences from various disorders and stimuli. The skin needs additional protection such as irritant pollution, direct sunlight that contains UV light directly and long. Salak seeds (Salacca zalacca (Gaernt.) Voss.) Contain flavonoids, and tannins that can protect the skin from free radicals. The purpose of this research is to formulate the ethanol extract of zalacca seeds by varying the concentration in the form of lotion preparation and using a control + comparison.
This study used an experimental method, by extracting salacca seeds by maceration, then proceed to the formulation of lotion extracts of salacca ethanol extract with concentrations of 1%, 3%, 5%. Evaluation of preparations includes organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, dispersion, irritation and preferred test (Hedonic test).
The results of organoleptic lotion preparations, the formula containing 1% extract of salak seed with brown concentration was easy, the concentration of 3% was brown, the concentration of 5% was dark brown and each formula smelled of salak seed extract and was semi-solid, had a pH value 6.1-6.6, with good homogeneity, and scattering power is not much different from control + means that it still meets the spread of good lotion.
The results obtained that the preparation of ethanol extract of salak seeds (Salacca zalacca (Gaernt.) Voss.) Can be formulated as lotion preparations, and when compared from the evaluation of the preparation, namely homogeneity test, pH test, dispersion test and irritation test with comparison control +, preparations qualify as lotion preparations. It is suggested to the next researcher to remove chlorophyll from simplicia, in order to produce a better lotion preparation.
