Abstract
Based on the Health Profile of North Sumatra in 2014 the number of maternal deaths was 268 per 100,000 live births. One of the causes of maternal death is nausea and vomiting. Husband support is very important for the handling of gravidarum emesis. The aim of this study was to identify the relationship of husband's support and the handling of gravidarum emesis.
The research design was an analytical survey with a cross sectional study approach. The populations in the study were first trimester pregnant women at Leventri Clinic with a total sampling technique of 32 people. The research variables were husband's support and handling of emesis gravidarum with primary data collection techniques using a questionnaire. The data analysis using Chi Square Test with a significance value of 0.05.
The results of the study of 32 respondents found that there were 25 respondents (78.1%) with husbands who supported where the prevention of good emesis gravidarum was 21 respondents (65.65), poor as many as 4 respondents (12.59%), husbands who were less supportive as many as 7 people (21.9%) where good handling of emesis gravidarum was 1 person (3.1%) and less as many as 6 people (18.8%). Probability value (A symp Sig) 0.001 <0.005.
The conclusion of this study shows that the relationship of husband's support with the handling of emesis of gravidarum in the first trimester of pregnancy at Leventri Clinic. It is suggested to the Clinics to provide information about the importance of husband support during pregnancy.
