Abstract
Hajj is a worship which most of its activities are physical activities carried out within ± 40 days which require good health conditions to run it. Based on data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the percentage of pilgrims in Indonesia with a high risk of health increases every year, including in Pematangsiantar City, that is from 10 prospective pilgrims who were interviewed found health conditions at risk of 6 people. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of behavioral factors with the health status of prospective Pematang Siantar City pilgrims in 2018.
The research design used is Cross Sectional. The population in this study were 134 prospective pilgrims with a sample of the entire population. Data collection methods are primary data and secondary data. Data analysis used is univariate and bivariate analysis using chi-square test.
The results showed that the majority of respondents had less knowledge, namely 52 respondents (38.8%), negative attitude as many as 77 respondents (57.5%) and health status of prospective pilgrims in the category of not good as many as 74 respondents (55, 2%). The chi-square test results show there is a relationship of knowledge (p = 0.001) and attitude (p = 0.009) with the health status of prospective Pematang Siantar City pilgrims in 2018.
It is recommended that prospective pilgrims should better interpret their health conditions before performing the Hajj and must always check their health properly in health services.
