Abstract
Personal hygiene is an effort to maintain one's own health which aims to prevent the occurrence of disease and to improve his health status. One indicator of personal hygiene is the care of feet, hands, and nails. Of the 15 workers at PT Simpang Kanan Lestarindo, Desa Simpang Kanan, Rokan Hilir District, Riau, there were 10 respondents who lacked knowledge about personal hygiene and 5 workers had negative attitudes about personal hygiene. The research objective was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of palm oil mill workers with individual personal hygiene at PT Simpang Kanan Lestarindo, Desa Simpang Kanan, Rokan Hilir District, Riau in 2018.
The design of this study was to use analytical survey research methods with a cross sectional-approach. The population in this study were 129 workers. The sample in the study were 98 workers, with a simple random sampling technique. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate with chi-square statistical tests.
The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge variables with a p-value (0.031 <0.05). Attitude with p-value (0.029 <0.05).
The conclusion of the study was the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of palm oil mill workers with individual personal hygiene at PT Simpang Kanan Lestarindo, Desa Simpang Kanan, Rokan Hilir District, Riau in 2018. It was expected that oil palm mill workers will improve personal hygiene of individuals. Suggestions add knowledge about individual personal hygiene.
