Abstract
The main causes of maternal maternity include bleeding, hypertension during pregnancy (preeclampsia and eclampsia), sepsis or infection. The indirect cause of maternal death is that it is too late to know the danger sign of pregnancy. danger sign of pregnancy. One of them is by utilizing the KIA book which contains information about the danger signs of pregnancy, pregnant women can recognize the danger signs of pregnancy earlier. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the use of KIA books and maternal knowledge about the of pregnancy danger signs in Peunaron Health Center in 2018.
The research was an analytic survey with a cross sectional approach. Population in this study pregnant women with 8-32 weeks gestational age as many as 128 respondents, and a sample of 56 respondents. Data analysis was carried out by univariate and bivariate with chi-square.
The results showed that the use of KIA books with p value ( .000 < .05), meaning that there was a relationship between the use of KIA books and the knowledge of maternal about the danger signs of pregnancy in the Peunaron Health Center.
The conclusion of the study is the relationship between the use of KIA books and maternal knowledge about pregnancy danger signs in the Peunaron Health Center. It is recommended for mothers to further improve the knowledge of pregnant women about the danger signs of pregnancy and the use of KIA books is a strategy to empower the community, especially families, to maintain their health and get quality maternal and child health services.
