Abstract
Facial masks, one of the skin care cosmetics that have the advantage of depending on the formulation ingredients to clean, soften, shrink pores, moisturize and nourish the skin. Gel masks are one of the practical masks, one of it is katuk leaves extract which has active as an antioxidant that can be formulated into a gel mask.
This research was conducted with the aim to determine whether the ethanol extract of Katuk leaves (sauropus androgynus L.Merr) can be formulated in a gel mask dosage form.
The method used in this study is an experimental method. Making ethanol extract of Katuk leaves by extraction and meceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. The sample used in this study was katuk leaves extract consisting of different variations of concentration, namely 1%, 3%, and 5%.
Organoleptic test results of gel mask form, formulas containing ethanol extract of katuk leaves with a concentrain of 1% moss green, 3% brownish green concentration, and 5% blackish green concentration. And each green teasmelling formula with a distinctive extract ha a pH value of 6,7-7,0, with good homogeneity and good dispersing and dry power and was not irritating so it was safe to use. From the result of this study, it can be concluded that Katuk leaves can formulated as a gel mask form. It is recommended for further research to make other dosage formulation of Katuk leaves extract such as moisturizing cream.
