Abstract

Facial masks are one of the many skin care cosmetics that have many advantages depending on the formulation ingredients: cleansing, softening, shrinking pores, moisturizing and nourishing the skin.Gel mask is one of the paractical masks because after drying the mask can be immediately removed without rinsing. Pare fruit can act as an antioxidant with active ingredients found in flavonoids, so it is well formulated into a gel mask. The iam of the study was to find out how to make a preparation formulation pf gel mask of ethanol extract of pare fruit (Momordica charantia L.)
This study used an experimental method of gel mask formulation consisting of components such as pare fruit, polyvinyl alcohol, HPMC, glycerin, TEA, Propyl paraben, Metyl paraben, Aquadest, and 96% ethanol with a concentration of 0%, 1%, 3%, 5%. Making ethanol extract of pare fruit by stripping, cutting and refining. Tests on gel mask preparations were made including, homogeneity test, pH test, time power test preparation, dryness test, organoleptic test, and irritation test using 12 volunteers.
The formulation of gel mask preparation using ethanol extract of pare fruit as the active ingredient was made quite stable, pH ranged from 6.7 to 7.0 so it was safe to use.
The conclusions of the study of pare fruit can be formulated as a gel mask of ethanol extract of pare fruit (Momoedica charantia L.). Based on the examination showed that the preparations made had a homogeneus arrangement and the pH measurements of gel mask preparations in this study still met physiological pH and also had good dispersion and drying time and color, odor, and texture did not change, and did not save so it was safe to use.
