Abstract
One of the parameters of health services at the Hospital is the control of
nosocomial infections. The incidence of nosocomial infections in Martha Friska
Hospital in Medan for nurses in the inpatient room in 2016 was 4 people, in 2017
there were 5 people and in 2018 there were 3 people. The purpose of this study
was to determine the factors associated with prevention of nosocomial infections
in the nursing workforce in the inpatient room of Martha Friska Hospital Medan
in 2018.
The design of this study was to use analytical survey research method with
cross sectional design. The population in this study was 109 nurses in the
inpatient room and all of them were used as research samples which constituted
the total population. Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate by chi-square
test and multivariate by multiple binary regression test.
The bivariate results in this study indicate that there is a relationship of
attitude variables, availability of facilities and supervision obtained p value of
each (0,017), (0,010), (0,015) with the prevention of nosocomial infections. There
was no correlation between the variables of knowledge, length of work and
training obtained p value of each (0,076), (0,492), (0,783) with the prevention of
nosocomial infection. Multivariate results showed that the attitude variable 3,281
was more related to the prevention of nosocomial infections, p = 0,010 <0,05.
It can be concluded that the most dominant attitude is related to the
prevention of nosocomial infections in the workforce of nurses in the inpatient
room of Martha Friska Hospital Medan in 2018. It is recommended to the
Hospital to complete the availability of facilities needed by nurses in accordance
with the existing nurse station so that nurses can prevention of Nosocomial
Infection.
