Abstract
Knowledge in the use of Personal Protective Equipment at work is a must for workers in order to maintain health and safety. Attitudes are closely related to knowledge and behavior, if the attitude of the workforce is good (positive), the knowledge and behavior of the use of Personal Protective Equipment is also good (positive) and vice versa if the attitude of the workforce is not good (negative) then the knowledge and behavior of the use of Personal Protective Equipment is also not good (negative). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitude with the use of PPE on productin workers at PKS Rambutan Tebing Tinggi in 2018.
The design of this study used an analytical survey with Cross sectional approach. The sample was the entire population of 63 workers. The data used were primary and secondary data and use univariant and bivariant analysis with the help of SPSS computer programs.
Based on the results of the chi square test, it was stated that there was a relationship between knowledge and attitude with the use of PPE on production workforce at PKS Rambutan Tebing Tinggi in 2018, with a ρ value of 0.004 <0.05 and a ρ value of 0.010 <0.05.
It can be concluded that knowledge and attitudes related to the use of PPE on procuduction workers at PKS Rambutan Tebing Tinggi in 2018, because the knowledge and attitudes of the workers are good and the attitude is positive, the use of PPE is also good and there are no work accidents at work. It is expected that PKS Rambutan Tebing Tinggi companies improve the supervision in the use of PPE for workers safety
