Abstract
According to North Sumatra Province 2017 the use of contraceptives is widely used 16.1% injections, MOW 8.5%, Pills 7.7%, Implants 6.5%, Condoms 2.4%, IUD 2.3% and MOP 0, 3%. The use of traditional methods 15% consisting of interrupted intercourse 12.9%, 1.8% periodic abstinence and others 0.3%. Population growth in Indonesia is increasing rapidly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between types of contraceptive use with menstrual disorders in the Shanty Afridani Clinic in 2018.
The research method was analytic survey with cross sectional approach. This study was conducted on July-September 2018. The population in this study were 118 respondents. The sample used accidental sampling technique, a sample of 33 respondents. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate with chi square values with a statistical calculation of 0.05.
The results of the study found that women who used Hormonal contraceptives were 27 people (81.8%) with menstrual disorders as many as 20 people (60.6%) while there were no menstrual disorders as many as 7 people (21.2%). square shows that p = .016 <.05, meaning that there is a relationship between types of contraceptive use and menstrual disorders.
The conclusion of this study is the relationship between the types of contraceptive usage and menstrual disorders in the Shanty Afridani Medan Clinic in 2018. It is recommended that Birth control acceptors add insight and follow counseling from midwives as family planning counselors
on the effects of using Hormonal and Non-Hormonal contraceptives.
