Abstract
The use of contraception is one of the efforts in family planning to control fertility and suppress the most effective population growth. The implementation of contraceptive methods offered to the public is expected to have optimal benefits and have minimal side effects. The Long Term Contraception Method (MKJP) is a contraceptive method recommended by the government because it is considered to have an important role in reducing fertility rates. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of birth control acceptors about long-term contraceptive methods and the participation of MKJP in Gelam Sai Serimah of Bandar Khalifah sub-district in 2018.
The research design used in the analytic survey. The research sample is 54 people taken by simple random sampling. The analysis used in this study was univariate and bivariate analysis.
The results showed that of the 18 respondents (33.3%) who were well informed 14 people (25.9%) participated in MKJP users and 4 respondents (7.4%) did not participate. Enough knowledge as many as 25 respondents in which 14 people (25.9%) participated in MKJP users and 11 people (25.9%) did not participate using MKJP. The results of Chi-square test showed that p = 0.043 < 0.05, this means that there is a significant relationship between the Knowledge of KB acceptors and the participation of MKJP in Gelam Sai Serimah Village, Bandar Khalifah Subdistrict, 2018.
Conclusion of this study is a relationship between the knowledge of family planning acceptors and the participation of MKJP in Gelam Sai Serimah Village, Bandar Khalifah Subdistrict in 2018 was found with the results of Chi-square test showed that p = 0.043 < 0.05. Suggestions for respondents to seek more information to increase their knowledge, especially about long-term contraceptive methods and their benefits on the internet, health workers, and so on.
