Abstract
Based on the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 129/Menkes/SK/II/2008 concerning Minimum Service Standards, there is no occurrence of 100% drug error, it means that the occurrence of medication errors or medication errors should not occur in health services. The various events of medication error will be an obstacle in achieving therapeutic goals, to improve the quality of life of patients while minimizing the risk of treatment so patient safety is an important part of service risk in each hospital including the year of Padangsidimpuan Hospital which also has a high medication error .
This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the occurrence of medication errors carried out by inpatient nurses in Padangsidimpuan City Hospital in 2018. This type of research used an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population was all nurses who directly interact with patients. 122 nurses, divided into 11 rooms, obtained a total sample of 93 nurses. Data obtained by interviews using questionnaires and analyzed using multiple logistic regression tests with α = .05 and 95% confidence level.
The results showed that the variables that had a significant effect on the variables on the occurrence of medication errors carried out by inpatient nurses at Padangsidimpuan Hospital were variables with p-value = .002, workload variables with p value = .007, and educational variables with values p value = .001.
It is suggested that the management of the Padangsidimpuan Hospital need to provide information or education in the field of knowledge and skills regarding medication or pharmacology and medication errors to minimize the incidence of medication errors up to 0 to be able to meet the Hospital Minimum Service Standards. Likewise, effective communication training can be held for nurses to provide the highest quality services.
