Abstract
Up to 2012 the number of women who had been screened was around 575,503 people with a total pap smear test of around 25,805 people or 4.5%, suspected cervical cancer 666 (1,2 per 1000). The study aims to determine the relationship between husband's knowledge and support with Pap smear examination on women of fertile age couples at Lingkungan V Kwala Bekala, Medan Johor Sub District in 2018.
The type of this research is cross sectional research where measurements or observations were done at the same time on the data of independent and dependent variables. The population of this study was 126 and the sampling techniques were Slovin as many as 56 people then the data analysis were done by univariate and bivariate analysis by Chi-square test.
Based on the results of less knowledge of respondents' knowledge as many as 28 people (50%), did not get the support of their husbands as many as 35 people (62.5%) and did not do pap smears as many as 38 people (67.9%). The results of the Bivariate test results of the Pearson chi square test showed that the value of = 0.013 <0.05, meaning that there was a significant relationship between knowledge with pap smears and the test results of chi-square showed that the value of = 0.012 <0.05, meaning that there was a significant relationship between the husband's support and the implementation of the Pap smear examination on woman of fertile age couple at Lingkungan V Kwala Bekala.
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a significant relationship between husband's support with the implementation of the Pap smear on women of fertile age couple at Lingkungan V Kelurahan Kwala Bekala. It is suggested that the results of this study to use as a treasury of knowledge for mothers about the importance of early pap smears in order to prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer after advanced stage.
