Abstract
The correct breastfeeding technique is one way to overcome the problem in breastfeeding mothers, where in reality not all mothers can breastfeed properly. So that there are problems with the mother, like blisters, and breast milk, this happens because of the lack of knowledge and attitudes of mothers in breastfeeding techniques. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of postpartum mothers with correct breastfeeding techniques at BPM Siti Hajar R, Am.Keb in 2018.
The research was analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted at BPM Siti Hajar R, AM. Keb Marelan Medan. The population in this study were all postpartum mothers (6 hours - 42 postpartum days) on August at BPM Siti Hajar R, AM. Keb as many as 35 respondents, and all were taken as sampled. Data analysis was performed by univariately and bivariately with chi-square at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05).
The results showed that knowledge with p value ( 0.000 <0.05) and attitude with p value (0.43 < 0.05), meaning that there was a relationship between postpartum mother's knowledge and attitude with correct breastfeeding techniques at BPM Siti Hajar R, AM. Marelan Medan.
The conclusion of the study is the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of postpartum mothers with correct breastfeeding techniques at BPM Siti Hajar R. AM. Keb. It is recommended for postpartum mothers to have better understanding about the correct breastfeeding technique, by listening and applying what is delivered by the midwife or health worker and having a positive attitude towards breastfeeding correctly.
