Abstract
The increasing rate of population growth indicates that there will be a population explosion. Family planning is a BKKBN program as a government institution in Indonesia that is tasked with controlling fertility through the use of contraception. In 2016 the amounts of fertile age women were 48,536,690. New contraceptive participants were 6,663,156 (13.73%) the lowest contraceptive selection was IUD only (7.23%) from other contraceptives. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of husband's support with the selection of IUD contraceptives at Kelurahan Simalingkar B, Medan Tuntungan Sub District in 2018.
The research design used an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The populations were all contraceptive acceptors at Kelurahan Simalingkar B, Medan Tuntungan sub-district in 2018, totaling 1571 acceptors. The sampling technique usesd the Slovin formula then it was done randomly using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique.
The results of this study, with a research analysis of 82 respondents, did not support as many as 58 (70.7%) and minorities who supported as many as 24 (29.3%) respondents. Then the majority who did not vote for IUD contraception was 56 (68.3%), and the minority was 26 (31.7%) respondents. Bivariate analysis using Chi-Square test with a value of ᾳ = 0.05, and the results of the study showed p-value = 0.004 <ᾳ = 0.05.
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between husband's support and the selection of IUD contraception at Kelurahan Simalingkar B, Medan Tuntungan in 2018. It is suggested to the health workers, especially midwives to improve communication in providing services and information especially in IUD contraception services.
