Abstract

Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata Durch.) Is a plant that has high carotenoid content. Carotenoids are antioxidants that function to fight the signs of aging in the skin due to free radical attacks. Honey also contains nutritious substances, one of which is vitamin C which also functions as an antioxidant. Gel mask is one of the facial cosmetic form that is easy to apply and more practical in its use.
This research was conducted with the aim of making a gel mask formulation from ethanol extract of pumpkin fruit and honey with cold extraction method.
The method used in this study was an experimental method. The making of pumpkin fruit ethanol extract by extraction by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. The sample used in this study was pumpkin fruit extract consisting of different concentration variations, namely 2%, 4% and 6% with honey 2% each.
The results of the organoleptic test quality examination showed that the higher the concentration of pumpkin fruit extract in a gel mask form, the more concentrated the color and the sharper the aroma, the test homogeneity of the form showed a homogeneous arrangement, resulting pH test 6.7-7.0. The dry form test was produced 10-30 minutes, the dispersion test was 5.5-6.8 cm, and the skin irritation test showed no positive irritation on the skin. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of pumpkin fruit and honey can be formulated as a gel mask.
