Abstract

Injectable contraceptive is a temporary contraception. In the United States the number of injectable contraceptive uses is 30%. According to a survey conducted at the Sabarita Clinic obtained from 7 respondents with a duration of usage <1 year who experienced menstrual disorders and the remaining 3 respondents with a duration of> 1 year did not experience menstrual disorders. The purpose of the study was to determine whether there was a relationship between the duration of use of 3-month injectable contraceptives and menstrual disorders in 3-month injectable contraceptive acceptors at Sabarita Clinic Tanjung Beringin, Hinai Sub District of Langkat District in 2018.

This study uses an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The populations in this study were all 3-month injectable contraceptive acceptors who experienced and did not experience menstrual disorders as many as 98 acceptors. The distribution of samples using the total population method (total sampling), that was all populations were used as research samples. The data analysis was performed using the chi-square test.

The results of statistical tests using the Chi Square test showed that p = 0.001 <0.05, there was a significant relationship between the duration of use of 3-month injectable contraceptive and menstrual disorders in 3-month injectable contraceptive acceptors. In this case it can be stated that the acceptance of the research hypothesis was that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected and thus the research hypothesis has been tested.

The conclusion shows that there is a relationship between the duration of use of 3-month injectable contraceptives with menstrual disorders in 3-month injectable contraceptive acceptors at Sabarita Clinic Tanjung Beringin, Hinai Sub-district, Langkat District. It is suggested for health workers to be able to provide improved services to 3-month injectable contraceptive acceptors to fertile age women and can provide IEC to injecting contraceptive users.
