Abstract

Study of the glutaraldehyde’s effect on the chitosan/pectin/PVA (Chi-Pec-PVA) membranes has been conducted.
PVA as a synthetic polymer with hydrophilic property is expected to help pectin maintaining the thermal stability. The
membrane was prepared using inversion phase method. The FT-IR spectra showed the changing on membrane’s functional
group. TGA analysis showed the presence of glutaraldehyde enhanced the weight loss up to 59.25% from 55.35%. Further
application of this membrane as wound dressing seems possible based on the tensile strength value.
