Abstract
Reproductive health problems in adolescents are still a problem that needs attention especially during menstruation, menstrual pain often occurs (dysmenorrhea). In the United States, the incidence of dysmenorrhea reaches 45% - 90%, while in Indonesia it ranges from 43% - 93%. Dysmenorrhea can be caused due to lack of knowledge and attitude of the Young Women in carrying out the treatment when experiencing menstrual pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of young women with menstrual pain management (dysmenorrhea) in SMP PAB 2 Helvetia Medan in 2018.
The design of this study was an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all female adolescents of SMP PAB 2 who experienced dysmenorrhea during menstruation totaling 43 people. Sampling used the entire population, and the data used are primary data, the analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis.
The results showed that of 43 young women carried out data analysis with Chis-quare results obtained that at the level of knowledge there is a p-value of .001 (p < α = .05), the attitude there is a p-value of .045 (p < α = .05).
The conclusion of this study there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes of young women with treatment of dysmenorrhea in SMP PAB 2 Helvetia Medan in 2018. It is expected for young women to increase their knowledge and seek information about the treatment of dysmenorrhea, so that they can help young women to deal with dysmenorrhea.
