Abstract
Postpartum hemorrhage is the cause of maternal death. Maternal death is caused by postpartum hemorrhage (placenta previa, abruption of the placenta, ectopic pregnancy, uterine rupture). One of the causes of bleeding is a tear in the birth canal (perineal rupture), this tear can occur together with uterine atony. One of the factors of the tear itself is that the weight of the newborn baby is a problem that is still a lot that occurs and is found in labor. This study aims to determine the relationship of newbaby born weight with the occurrence of perineal tears in maternity mother.
This research is a quantitative study with an analytical survey research design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was all mothers giving birth with sampling techniques using Accidental sampling. Data collection was done by observation sheet as a measuring tool. The data was processed using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship of the newborn baby weight with perineal tears.
The results of the study showed that from the maternal majority of the second degree as many as 14 respondents (46.7%) and the minority there were no tears as many as 8 respondents (26.7%) and degree I as many as 8 respondents (26.7%). The results of the chi-squared test with p-value was 0.002 (p <0.05).
The conclusion of this study shows that there is a meaningful relationship between the weight of a baby born with perineal tears in maternity mother at Eka Sri Wahyuni Clinic in 2018. It is expected that more vigilance can be done in childbirth assistance so that there is no perineal tear and can provide IEC to pregnant women about the weight of newborns.
