Abstract
Childbirth often results in birth canal injuries, the extent of the tear of the birth canal will affect the cure rate, one of the factors that influence the healing of the birth canal by meeting the adequacy of nutrition. But due to the lack of knowledge of mothers at this time there are still those who abstain from food. Abstinence from food is the habit of not consuming certain foods during childbirth. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between dietary abstinence for postpartum mothers with wound wound healing in the work area of Pumbanginan District Humbang Hasundutan Health Center in 2018.
The type of research used is analytic survey with cross sectional design. The sampling technique is by using Accidental Sampling, which is a sampling technique based on chance to meet with researchers and can be used as a sample of researchers, namely 30 postpartum mothers in the work area of Paranginan Health Center. Data was obtained using a questionnaire that had been tested valid first and then the data was processed with univariate and bivariate analysis and tested using the Chi-Square test.
. Based on the results of statistical tests showed the mother's knowledge about abstinence from postpartum mothers with wound healing on birth can get a p-value (.002) <.05. From these results there is a significant relationship between the knowledge of abstinence from postpartum mothers with healing of birth canal wounds.
This concludes that there is a significant relationship between the knowledge of mothers with birth wound healing in the work area of Paranginan Health Center in 2018. It is expected that health workers in Paranginan Health Center will carry out promotive actions such as counseling, and provide health education to the community about nutrition intake during childbirth so that the wound healing of the birth canal runs smoothly.
