Abstract
Knowledge of risk factors in pregnancy is very important for early detection and prevention of obstetric complications. Pregnant women class aims to improve the knowledge and skills of pregnant women carried out four times. Based on a preliminary survey, the majority of pregnant women in the working area of the UPT Puskesmas were originally in Tanjungbalai City and were less knowledgeable about risk factors in pregnancy; only a few pregnant women have attended classes for pregnant women; while material about risk factors in pregnancy is not delivered specifically and in detail so it needs to be modified. This study aims to find out how the class effectiveness of pregnant women to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about risk factors in pregnancy in the working area of the Puskesmas UPT Initially Tanjungbalai City in 2018.
This research method is a true experiment type pretest-posttest control group design. The study was conducted in July-September 2018, with simple random sampling technique where the number of samples for each group (class of modified and regular pregnant women) was 57 respondents. Data were analyzed with Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.
The results show that Asym. Sig. (2-tailed) in both classes <α (0,000 <0,05), there were 52 respondents in the modified class and 47 respondents in the regular class with the posttest score> pretest, and the difference in the mean posttest-pretest of the modification class> regular class ( 3.74> 2.19).
The conclusion is that the class of pregnant women is effective in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women about risk factors in pregnancy in the working area of the UPT Puskesmas Initially the City of Tanjungbalai in 2018 where the modification class is more effective than the regular class. It is recommended that modified mothers' classes can be carried out at the Puskesmas UPT at the beginning, Tanjungbalai City as an innovation to overcome the problems that occur
