Abstract

Communal / public toilets basically aim to address the problem of sanitation, especially in urban settlements. The results of a preliminary survey of 20 heads of households whose residence is in the public MCK zone provided by the government. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence families in the use of public MCK.
The research design used in this study is Cross Sectional. The population in this study was 7896 households and the sample taken by random sampling was 98 households. Data collection methods are primary data and secondary data. Analysis of the data used is binary logistic regression test.
The results showed that attitude had a sig-p value of 0.009 <0.05, a habit of sig-p 0.004 <0.05, availability of clean water sig-p 0.020 <0.05 and the availability of public toilet facilities a sig-p value of 0.038 <0.05 . The knowledge variable has a sig-p value of 0.220> 0.05 and the role of the sig-p health worker is 0.302> 0.05.
The conclusion in this study there is the influence of attitudes, habits, availability of clean water and the availability of public toilets on the use of public toilets, while the knowledge and role of health workers do not have an influence on the use of public toilets. The Public Health Service is expected to provide public toilets in accordance with health where public toilets must be made of sturdy building materials, have waste disposal far from clean water sources, have clean water reservoirs, have adequate lighting and have the number of public toilets in accordance with the amount existing population.
