Abstract
Environmental pollution occurs in the cowshed area because livestock waste is left around it and gives off a pungent odor. The cowshed is located 15 meters from the residential area, so the impact of the waste is very disturbing to the local residents. The negative impact of the existence of livestock business is causing pollution to the environment both in land, water, and air thus impacting on the decline in public health. The purpose of this study was to determine factors related to the preventive action of cow dung pollution in water of Laut Tawar Lake in Merah Mersa Village, Laut Tawar Sub-District, Central Aceh Regency. This research is an analytical survey with cross sectional design. The population was all cattle rancher in Merah Mersa Village amount 50 breeders and all of them were sampled by total population technique. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. Chi-square test results obtain the probability value of each variable include education p = .015, knowledge p = 0,000, attitude p = 0,000 and the role of janitor p = .003. The conclusion shows that there is a relationship between education, knowledge, attitude and role of janitor with the preventive action of cow dung pollution in Laut Tawar Lake water. It is suggested to the community around the lake to be input for the community and visitors in preventing pollution of cow dung, not dispose of waste in the river and the Lake and also maintain the cleanliness of environmental lake.
