Abstract

The STBM program starts from the first pillar, the Stop Open Defecation (BABS). The priority of service and latrine construction is carried out in several villages such as Ombolata Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency. Only 24.6% of the population in Ombolata Village have a family toilet from 658 households. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with latrine ownership in the community in Ombolata Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency in 2019.
The research design used was a quantitative analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all family heads in Ombolata Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency, totaling 658 families. Sampling used 87 slovin formulas. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with logositic regression.
The results of the study revealed that the majority of knowledge was lacking (77.0%), the majority of negative attitudes (75.9%), the majority of the economy was low (73.6%), the majority of the support of health workers did not support (72.4%) and the majority did not have latrines. (71.3%). The results of the study with bivariate analysis revealed that the p value of each variable was knowledge of 0,000 <0.05, attitude of 0,000 <0.05, economy of 0,000 <0.05 and support of health workers by 0,000 <0.05.
The conclusion of this study is there is a relationship of knowledge, attitudes, economics and support of health workers with latrine ownership in the community in Ombolata Village, Alasa District, North Nias Regency in 2019. It is recommended for health workers to better implement good communication and an adaptive approach to the importance of having family latrines that meet health requirements.
