Abstract
Abstract
Background: The straining technique is a factor in the occurrence of perineal arousal during labor. Women who cannot control themselves when straining are more prone to tears or more need an episiotomy. Perineal rupture is one of the causes of vaginal bleeding during labor. Objectives: to determine the relationship of maternal knowledge about straining techniques with perineal rupture in normal labor at Rantarani Maternity Home Perbaungan. Method; the design of this study used an analytical survey method with a Cross Sectional approach. The study population was all 30 pregnant women at Rantarani Maternity Home from August to September 2018. The sampling technique was the Total Population. The data used were secondary and tertiary data. The data analysis techniques used univariate and bivariate analysis and tested by Chi-square test. Results; the majority of mothers had little knowledge as many as 15 people (50%) and experienced a level I perineum rupture as many as 13 people (43.3%). The statistical test results of knowledge about the straining techniques with perineal rupture showed a p-value = 0.015. Conclusion; there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge about the straining technique with perineal rupture in normal labor at Rantarani Maternity Home Perbaungan in 2018. It is suggested that health workers increase counseling to third trimester pregnant women at ANC about straining techniques correct.
