Abstract

According to WHO (World Health Organization), in 2009 as many as 536,000 women died per year while they were pregnant and childbirth in 2008 around 585.00 mothers died due to pregnancy and childbirth problems, even half of the total deaths occurred within 24 hours after giving birth , which is caused due to bleeding (40-50%) infection (20-30) and preeclampsia (20-30%). This study aims to determine the relationship of age and parity with the incidence of placental retention in maternity mother at RSUD. H. Abdul Manan Simatupang Kisaran in 2019.
The study design was an analytical survey with cross sectional approach. The population of this study was all of the maternity mothers at RSUD. H Abdul Manan Simatupang, totaling 106 people and sampled by using simple random sampling obtained as many as 51 people. The data used was secondary data. The data analysis using univariate, and bivariate analysis with Chi-square test.
The results of the univariate analysis of the majority of age were not at risk i.e. 36 respondents (70.6%), the majority of parity was at no risk i.e. 30 respondents (58.8%), the majority of placental retention was no retention of the placenta that was 38 respondents (74.5% ). The results of the study of the relationship of age with the incidence of placental retention in maternity mothers with the results of statistical analysis using the chi-square obtained p-value of .011 <.05, the relationship of parity with the incidence of placental retention in maternity mothers with the results of statistical test analysis using chi- square obtained p-value of .001 <.05. There was a relationship between age and parity with the incidence of retention of the placenta in maternity mothers at RSUD. H. Abdul Manan Simatupang Kisaran in 2019.
The conclusion in this study shows that there is a relationship between age and parity with the incidence of retention of the placenta in maternity mothers at RSUD H. Abdul Manan Simatupang Kisaran in 2019. It is suggested that health workers have to provide counseling about placental retention and the importance of maintaining pregnancy spacing to prevent placental retention.
