Abstract

ANALYSISOF THE APPLICATION OF INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF CHILDHOOD ILLNESS (IMCI) WITH THEOCCURRENCE OF ARI IN INFANTS ATPASAR GAMBIR HEALTH CENTER OF TEBINGTINGGI CITY IN 2019 IGA SARI SIREGAR1801032045 ARI is an Indonesian public health problem, especially ininfants. In the population age group, a high prevalence period of ARI occurs inthe 1-4 year age group. From the IMCI report in Pasar Gambir Health Centerthere was an increase of 32.3% of children affected by ARI in December 2018. Thisstudy aims to determine the application of IMCI in the treatment of ARI atPasar Gambir Health Center, Tebing Tinggi City in 2019.This research type used mixed-methods research using a casecontrol research design with quantitative and qualitative approaches, both ofthese approaches is to answer research questions that cannot be fully answeredwith just one approach. This research was conducted at working area of PasarGambir Health Center, Tebing Tinggi City with a quantitative sample of 30people and a qualitative sample of 6 informants.The results showed that the application of IMCI to theoccurrence of ARI was mother of toddlers with insufficient knowledge, incompleteimmunization status, poor nutritional status, and the presence of smokers athome.The cause of ARI problems in infants at Pasar Gambir HealthCenter, Tebing Tinggi City is caused by various interrelated factors namelylack of knowledge of mothers, immunization status, nutritional status and thepresence of smokers at home. It is suggested to mothers of toddlers to be ableto increase knowledge about maintaining personal hygiene, the home environment,keeps children away from cigarette smoke, and routinely checks to healthworkers when find them in bad condition.
