Abstract
Traffic Police are law enforcement officers whose job is to protect, protect and serve the community. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), work stress is a response that arises when work pressures and demands are not appropriate. Based on the results of interviews found various complaints from the Traffic Police that lead to work stress such as complaining of difficulty sleeping and feeling pain in the chest, bored, monotonous work, tired and uncomfortable with coworkers. The purpose of this study was to determine factors associated with work stress at the Traffic Police at Langkat Police Station in 2019.
This research uses analytic survey with Cross Sectional design. The population in this study were 97 people and all of them were sampled (total population). Analysis of the data used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with chi square test with a confidence level of 95% (α = 0.05).
Chi square test analysis results showed the probability value of each variable, namely: age obtained p value = 0.029 <α 0.05, routine values obtained p = 0.025 <α = 0.05, coworkers obtained p value = 0.036 <α = 0 , 05, and work period obtained p value = 0.264> α = 0.05.
The conclusion in this study is there is a relationship between age, routine, and coworkers with work stress on the Traffic Police, while the working period is not related to work stress on the Traffic Police. The advice given to agencies, especially the Traffic Police at Langkat Police Station, is that the Agency is able to optimize training and education related to the risk of work done by the Traffic Police, so that work stress can be reduced so that it is accustomed to being comfortable in the work performed.
