Abstract
Sanitation is intentional behavior in the culture of clean living with the intention of preventing humans from coming into direct contact with dirt and other hazardous waste materials. Based on data in the environment 29 Kelurahan Pekan Labuhan, Medan Labuhan Subdistrict, only 14% have used Communal WWTP. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between predisposing factors and community participation in the communal Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in 29 Kelurahan Pekan Labuhan, Medan Labuhan District.
The design of this research was analytic survey with cross sectional approach. The study population was all heads of families, as many as 86 families with all populations sampled. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with chi-square statistical tests.
The results of the chi-square test analysis showed the value of each variable including knowledge obtained p-value = 0,000, attitude p-value = 0.001 and economic status obtained p-value = 0.013.
The conclusion of this study is there is a relationship of knowledge, attitudes and economic status with community participation in the Communal WWTP program in the 29th Ward Pekan Labuhan Sub-District, Medan Labuhan District. It is recommended to the Head of Non-Governmental Organizations (CBOs) to increase the dissemination of WWTP and supervision, supervise the WWTP buildings that have been made to function properly and smoothly and reduce costs or reduce costs in maintaining WWTP treatment so that the community wants to participate in the communal WWTP program .
