Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy can adversely affect maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. The benefits of Fe tablets are huge against the prevention of anemia in pregnant women. But there are still many pregnant women who do not consume Fe tablets up to 90 tablets. Data from the South Labuhanbatu District Health Office in 2018, the coverage of Fe tablets was only 84.68%. This study aimed to determine the factors related to the promotion and preventive services of midwives in the provision of Fe tablets to pregnant women at Kota Pinang Health Center, South Labuhanbatu Regency in 2019.
The research design used was analytical survey research with cross sectional approach. The populations were all midwives in the Health Center amount 33 people and all were sampled by total population technique. Data analysis by univariate and bivariate analysis with chi square test.
The results obtained that the majority of knowledge lacked amount 15 people (45.5%), the majority of motivation lacked amount 18 people (54.5%) and the majority of promotive and preventive services were amount 21 people (63.6%). The results of bivariate analysis obtained that the p-value of each variable was knowledge of .013 <.05 and motivation of 0.000 <.05.
The conclusion shows that there is a relationship between knowledge and motivation with the promotion and preventive services of midwives in giving Fe tablets to pregnant women at Kota Pinang Health Center, Kota Pinang District, South Labuhanbatu Regency in 2019. It is suggested to midwives to further increase their knowledge and training on giving Fe tablets to pregnant woman.
