Abstract
Typhoid fever is a febrile illness that often afflicts children, the cause is the lack of knowledge and attitudes of parents in preventing children affected by typhoid fever. Data from the patumbak puskesmas show that the number of typhoid fever sufferers who underwent inpatient and outpatient care in January-April 2019 was 125 people. This study aims to determine how the relationship of knowledge and attitudes of mothers towards typhoid fever prevention in SDN 105299 Patumbak 2019. The study design was cross sectional with a population of all mothers who have school children at SDN 105299 Patumbak in 2019. Samples were taken using the Slovin formula with the number of a sample of 79 people and the sampling technique using proportionate stratified random sampling, the data analysis method using univariate and bivariate with statistical chi-square test. The results of this study showed that most respondents lacked 47 respondents (59.5%), negative attitudes of 46 respondents (58.2%) and unfavorable preventive measures 46 respondents (58.2%). Chi square test results showed the value of p for knowledge was 0.002 and attitude was 0.002. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude with the prevention of typhoid fever in SDN 105299 in 2019. It is recommended to the puskesmas to further enhance their role in providing health education to the community, to the school is expected to work together with the puskesmas related to the implementation of counseling related to fever prevention programs typhoid in children.
