Abstract

The smoothness of breast milk influences the mother's behaviour in breastfeeding, breast milk that does not flow out smoothly will reduce the mother's enthusiasm for breastfeeding and would decides not to breastfeed her baby. Some factors influenced the smoothness of breast milk as family support, knowledge of breastfeeding techniques and the implementation of IMD. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine factors are related to the smoothness of breast milk in the Rantang Subdistrict in 2019. Methods: This research was analytic survey design with cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all normal postpartum mothers in 2019 of 30 people. The sample weretaken by using total population. Methods of data analysis used univariate and bivariate analyses with chi-square test. Result: Based on the results of research from 30 respondents showed that there was a relationship between family support and the breastmilk smoothness with a p-value = .002 (p <.05), there was a relationship of IMD with a p-value = .004 (p <.05), and there is a relationship of knowledge about breastfeeding techniques with p-value = .004 (p <.05). Conclusion of this study is that family support, IMD implementation and maternal knowledge about breastfeeding techniques are related to the smoothness of breastfeeding in Rantang Subdistrict in 2019.
