Abstract

The application of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to nurses is the implementation of the OHS policy that has been made based on the hospital's OHS management system (OH&SMS) adjusted to OHS in the inpatient installation. Hospital OHS data and facts globally by WHO (World Health Organization) in 2017 states that of the 35 million, 3 million were exposed to blood pathogens (2 million were exposed to the HBV virus, 0.9 million were exposed to the HBC virus and 170,000 were exposed to the HIV / AIDS virus). The research objective was the relationship of knowledge and attitudes of nurses with the application of OHS in RSUD Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai in 2019.
The design in this research was analytical descriptive design with cross sectional approach. The population in this study was 153 nurses. Samples were taken by using the Slovin formula as many as 111 people. The data collection methods were primary and secondary data. Analyses of the data used in this study were univariate and bivariate analysis with Chi-square Test.
The results showed Knowledge Sig (.408)> α (.05) means that there was no relationship between knowledge and the application of OHS, while Sig's attitude (,000) <α (.05), means that there was a relationship between attitude and the application of OHS in RSUD Dr. R.M.Djoelham Binjai in 2019.
The conclusion in this study shows that there is no relationship between knowledge with the application of OHS in RSUD Dr.R.M.Djoelham Binjai, while there is a relationship between attitude and the application of OHS in RSUD Dr.R.M.Djoelham Binjai. It is expectedthat this study can be use as an input for (OH&SMS). It is suggested to agencies that the importance of good knowledge about the application of OHS to be understood by nurses so that the level of work-related accidents and occupational diseases can be reduced by nurses in hospitals.
