Abstract
The high mortality rate of women in Indonesia due to cancer of the reproductive system. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world (13%) after cardiovascular disease. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women with 7.5% of all deaths.
Metode: This type of research is a Quasi experimental study. The population in this study was WUS mothers in the Working Area of Muaratais Support Health Center as many as 1390 people. The sample consisted of 60 WUS mothers. The sample was divided into 2 groups: counseling and mentoring groups of 30 people each.The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed univariate, bivariate and multivariate.
Hasil: The results showed that counseling variables were effective in increasing knowledge (p = 0,000) maternal attitudes (p = 0.005) but not effective in action (p = 0.161) regarding early detection of cervical cancer IVA test methods. Effective assistance in knowledge (p = 0,000), maternal attitudes (p = 0.003) and actions (p = 0.043) regarding early detection of cervical cancer IVA test methods.
Kesimpulan; so it can be concluded that mentoring is more effective than counseling in improving maternal behavior early detection of cervical cancer IVA test methods.
