Abstract
Measles can cause an outbreak. Pijorkoling Health Center data found 11 cases of measles that occurred at Working Area of Pijorkoling Health Center and have become a measles outbreak. This study aimed to find out how the measles is happening, the implementation of the measles immunization program, the prevention and control of measles and how to carry out measles surveillance in UPTD Pijorkoling Health Center of Padangsidimpuan City in 2019.
The research design used qualitative methods with a case study approach. There were 5 informants in this study: 2 mothers whose children had measles and 1 immunization officer, 1 surveillance officer and 1 Health Center head. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative through data processing with the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion or verification and triangulation.
The results of interviews found that the knowledge of mothers about measles was good, the implementation of measles immunization has been done but the achievement of immunization was still lacking, prevention and control of measles outbreaks was done by taking toddlers to get measles immunization and the implementation of measles surveillance was good, but still having some obstacles; the number of officers and the condition of road facilities that were not supportive.
The conclusion shows that the implementation of the immunization program is good, prevention and control of measles outbreaks is good and the implementation of measles surveillance is good. It is suggested to Posyandu cadres and immunization officers to improve the extension program to mothers about measles and the benefits of measles immunization.
