Abstract

Based on a preliminary survey conducted by researchers of 8 female students, 4 female students said that they did not receive information about the cleanliness of genetal organs from their parents and 3 female students said they felt ashamed and were pornographic to express, besides that 1 female student said only received knowledge about pads only. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of the role of parents in reproductive health education with personal hygiene behavior during menstruation in female students at SMA N3 Simeulue Barat Simeulue Barat District Simeulue in 2019. Method; The research design used was an analytic survey with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique in this study was the whole of the population by using the entire population into a sample (total population). The number of samples taken in this study were 40 students in SMA 3 Simeulue Barat Simeulue Barat Simeulue District in 2019. Data using univariate and bivariate were tested using chi-square. Results: The results of the study obtained from 40 respondents on the role of the majority of parents get the role of parents well as many as 25 respondents (65.0%), and on personal hygiene behavior the majority perform personal hygiene well as many as 28 respondents (70.0%). Conclusion: Based on the conclusions drawn by researchers in this study that there is a significant relationship between the role of parents in reproductive health education with personal hygiene behavior during menstruation p-value 0.049, meaning that there is a relationship between the role of parents in reproductive health education with personal hygiene behavior during menstruation at a student at West Simeulue Negeri 3 High School, Simeulue Barat in 2019, and expected that teachers in schools add information to students about the importance of carrying out personal hygiene during menstruation.
