Abstract
Contraception is an action that helps married couples avoid pregnancy and determines the number of children by two methods, namely MKJP and Non-MKJP. The installation of an IUD has not been used too much because of the lack of socialization and the fear of prospective acceptors about complications. Preliminary data at Simasom health care from 15 postpartum mothers is known to include 3 mothers participating in the IUD Contraception. The purpose was to determine factors related to the use of IUD contraceptives in normal post partum mothers in Simasom health care, Pahae Julu District, North Tapanuli Regency in 2019.
The design of this research esud analytic survey with Cross Sectional approach was conducted at the Simasom health care. The population amounted 138 people. A sample of 58 respondnets with slovin calculations. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire. Analysis of the data used chi square statistical tests (sig α=.05).
Based on the results showed that knowledge (p=0.000), number of children (p=.060), distance to health services (p=0.000), husband's support (p = 0.000), and support of health workers (p=0.000) with the use of IUD contraceptives in normal postpartum mothers.
The conclusion showed there is a relationship of knowledge, distance to health services, husband support and support of health workers and there is no relationship between the number of children with the use of IUD contraception in normal postpartum mothers. It is recommended to health workers to always provide health education, counseling and health promotion to all levels of society
