Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are still a health problem in the world, not only in developing countries but also in developed countries. Profile data for the Rantauprapat City Health Center in 2018 recorded 2 cases of HIV (male) and 12 cases of shypilis (6 men and 6 women). The aim of this study was to find out the factors that influenced the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in visitors to the VCT Clinic at Kota Rantauprapat Puskesmas in North Rantau District in 2019.
The research design used was analytical research with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all visitors to the VCT clinic at the Rantauprapat City Health Center in January - June 2019 as many as 360 people. The sampling technique uses an accidental sampling system of 78 people. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with logocytic regression.
The results of the study with bivariate analysis revealed p-value in each variables are knowledge 0,000 <0,05, attitude of 0,000 <0,05, support of health workers 0,000 <0,05 and family support 0,004 <0,05. Multivariate analysis shows that the variable support for health personnel has a significant value of 0,001 <0,05 and the largest Exp (B) value = 22,587.
The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between knowledge, attitude, support of health personnel and family support for prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in visitors to VCT clinics in Kota Rantauprapat Health Center, North Rantau District in 2019. The most significant variable influencing STI prevention measures is support health workers. It is recommended to health workers to be more persuasive in inviting the public to attend counseling services about STIs to increase public awareness in STI prevention measures.
