Abstract
Pulmonary TB is a major health problem in the world that causes morbidity in millions of people every year. Reports of cases of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in 2018 Rumah Sakit Khusus Paru as many as 63 cases of treatment drop out of the number of cases of pulmonary TB of 117. In 2019 recorded up to May as many as 95 cases of pulmonary TB and there were 26 cases of treatment drop out. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the role of the Superintendent of Taking Drugs on compliance with taking medication for tuberculosis patients in Rumah Sakit Khusus Paru Medan in 2019.
The study design was an analytic survey with a cross sectional approach. The population was PMO and Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients who came for treatment at Rumah Sakit Khusus Paru Medan from January to May in 2019 as many as 95 people. The sample uses total population. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate with logistic regression.
The results of the logistical regression study found sig values on education variables = 0.115, residential address = 0.054, family relationships = 0,000, knowledge = 0.004 and health education = 0.001. The family relationship variable has the largest Exp (B) value (42,874), so close family relationships have a tendency of 42,874 times more to have an effect on medication adherence than not close enough family relationships.
The conclusion from the study there is the influence of family relationships, knowledge and health education and there is no influence of education and residential addresses with medication adherence and the most significant variable influencing adherence to taking medication is family relations. It is recommended to Rumah Sakit Khusus Paru Medan in collaboration with the Department of Health to provide more information to PMOs and sufferers in increasing knowledge such as the procurement of PMO pocket books and leaflets.
