Abstract

A road sweeper is someone whose job is to clean the streets using a broom. The risk of health and safety disturbances as a janitor is high, because there are many hazardous wastes that have the potential to cause occupational accidents and occupational diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine what factors were related to the use of PPE on street sweepers at Gunungtua in 2019.
This study used an observational quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The populations were 50 street sweepers and all were sampled (total sampling).
The results of knowledge research showed the value obtained p 0,000 <0.05 means that there was a relationship between knowledge and the use of PPE. While comfort showed the value obtained p 0,000 <.05 means that there was a relationship between comfort with the use of PPE.
The conclusion shows that that there is a relationship between knowledge and comfort with the use of PPE on street sweepers in Gunungtua. Suggestions For road sweepers to be able to increase knowledge about the benefits of using PPE and increase awareness of the importance of using it at work in order to avoid work hazards that can affect the productivity and their health.
