Abstract

Avocado skin contains several chemical compounds (flavonoids) that are thought to work as active ingredients in sunscreen. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants. Avocado skin extract sheet mask formulations are intended to be used more practically and can increase the penetration of active substances into the skin. This study aims to formulate sheet mask dosage form containing avocado skin extract and observe the skin for better during four weeks of treatment and measure skin water content.
The research method used experimental method that was extract obtained using maceration method, then formulated into sheet mask dosage form, consisting of glycerin, butylene glycol, xanthan gum, nipagin, PEG 40 Hydrogenated castoroil, 70% ethanol, aquadest, perfume, and addition of skin extract avocados with concentrations of F1 (2%), F2 (4%), F3 (6%), respectively. As blank (F0) sheet mask dosage form without the addition of extracts. The dosage form were evaluated including testing to volunteers (irritation test, organoleptic test, homogeneity test, moisture content by using Moisture Checker. Treatment was done for 4 weeks by applying the mask twice a week. Data obtained were analyzed by using the SPSS program.
The results showed that avocado skin extract can be formulated in a homogeneous sheet mask dosage form, did not change color, and remained stable in 4 weeks storage with a pH of 6.0 to 6.6. The conclusion shows that Avocado skin extract can be formulated into sheet mask dosage form with a concentration of 2%, 4% and 6% with a positive control ratio.
