Abstract
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer found in women and is the second leading cause of death from breast cancer in women. Based on data from the Ministry of Health information contained in Indonesia's profile in 2017 in the province of Aceh, there were 1.20% of mothers detected with cervical cancer and breast cancer at 30-50 years old. This study aims to determine the factors associated with breast self-examination (BSE) which includes knowledge, attitudes, and family support for grade XI students in State 4 high school of Langsa.
This type of research was analytic survey research used a cross-sectional design. The location of the study was conducted at State 4 high school of Langsa. The population in this study were all students of Grade XI amounted 52 students and all were taken as samples. Data collection was carried out by a questionnaire and processed into univariate and bivariate analyses with chi-square test (0.05).
Based on the results of the study, the chi-square statistical test obtained knowledge with p-value 0.000, attitude with p-value 0.000, family support p-value 0.000, which means that there is a significant relationship between knowledge, attitude and family support with BSE.
The conclusion of this study is the relationship of knowledge, attitudes and family support with BSE in Grade XI students State 4 high school of Langsa 2019 found. It is recommended to search for and obtain information about the benefits of BSE by early detection to reduce the number of morbidity in teenage girls.
