Abstract

Post partum hemorrhage is bleeding that immediately follows labor beyond 500cc. Based on the data of Sundari General Hospital Medan in 2016 to July 2018 there were 31 cases of post partum hemorrhage. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of age and history of preeclampsia with postpartum hemorrhage in maternity at Sundari General Hospital Medan in 2018.
This research used analytical survey method with cross sectional approach. The study population was all mothers who experienced post partum hemorrhage both primary and secondary amounts 31 mothers. Data analysis was done by using univariate analysis in the form of frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using chi-square test.
The results of chi square test of 31 respondents who experienced secondary post partum hemorrhage were 9 respondents (29.0%) and were 22 primary respondents (71.0%). Respondents with age at risk <20 and> 35 years experienced post partum hemorrhage was 15 respondents (48.4%), respondents with age at risk 20-35 years experienced post partum hemorrhage by 16 respondents (51.6%) with p value = .113 <.05. Preeclampsia was 6 respondents (19.4%), not preeclampsia was 25 respondents (80.6%) with p-value = .043 <.05.
The conclusion shows that there is relationship between age and preeclampsia history with postpartum hemorrhage in maternity at Sundari General Hospital Medan in 2018. It is suggested to health workers to improve health services in dealing with various complications during pregnancy.
